Like A Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Oy, another week of school over. Does anyone else feel the fastness of time? And it's the weekend, and I only have 1 3 hour shift. Good times. I like to take days just for myself. And, I finally am able to get to church. I'm going to Foothills with Joya on Saturday night. I'm really excited. It's been a long time. I think the last time was when Alida brought me along way back in the day. I'm hoping to meet their new worship (?) pastor. Joya said they remembered me from last year. I couldn't have been more impressed and delighted. Their fellowship goes up one more notch. Did I mention I'm excited to go to church?
One more thing. Thanks to Alida's promptings, I downloaded google talk and bought a microphone/headset. I will not only be able to talk to Alida but in the near future I'll be able to talk to my bro in Halifax. This is a big deal because he doesn't have long distance, and since he has only a cell phone no matter if I call him, he'll still get charged for the long distance. Good times. Have a good weekend.

Don't Sit There Broken-Hearted

If anyone wants to see all of my Kelowna pictures, check them out here. But you will need an msn password to continue. For those who don't have that, I'll look into another place to put them!
Last night, I taped Into the West, expecting it to be the first part of the 6 part miniseries. It was part 2, but that's alright. When it's released October 4th, I will be a proud owner of it! There were some parts that were, um, disturbing. For example, a woman gets a compound fracture in her leg, and they don't/can't set it, and soon they discover little wormy things crawling around in it. GROSS! So the next course of action is to cut it off. Now, we're talking 1830's here. They could have cut Boone's leg off in Lost a lot better than they did it here. I muted it because I couldn't handle the screams (yes she was awake), and one of my biggest fears is to become a war amp. But they showed the doctor going back and forth like he was sawing a log. And guess what? She died anyway. All that pain for nothing! But, all in all, it was so good!
Deanna and I are having a party the weekend after Thanksgiving (it's a hallowe'en/my early birthday party) because Deanna's going to be on choir tour my birthday weekend. It's funny how history repeats itself. I want to invite all that I know, but then I was thinking that some people won't get along with the other people. But then I think - it's not anyone's fault, and it's certainly not mine. If they choose not to come or not have a good time because of the people, well, they are just stupid! Anyway, I'm excited and I'm excited for people to come! Invitations will come out soon.

They Called the Rising Sun

So I have a little bit of time, so I'll tell you about Kelowna.
After flying there on the smallest plane ever(!) we were met at the airport by Craig and Doug. Craig drove Joya and I to the hotel, and we discovered that we were playing an 18 round of golf, and we couldn't wear jeans on the course. Joya and I checked in, and Ann-Margaret drove us to the mall so we can pick up some appropriate pants. We got back to the hotel, ran upstairs, put on our pants, had a 10 minute brunch, met everyone in the lobby, and drove to the golf resort. Gallagher's Canyon Golf Resort. We drove our carts to the driving range, shot some balls, and since Joya and I had the first tee off, we went back to the first hole. Our partners were Sheldon and Ed. Ed's hardcore, Sheldon got drunk, and Joya and I just had fun! For awhile, all Joya and I could do was one drive, then go to where Ed's drive went so we didn't take too much time. But we got so far ahead that Joya and I were actually able to do the full course and holes and stuff. We got so good that by the end we were making it to the green in at least 4 shots. The beer chick came around a lot. Apparently she had more things than alcohol in her cart, but I was not aware of that. My hole in one shot made it a foot and a half. That's pretty darn good no? hehe. We got back to the hotel, had enough time to shower and pretty up, then we had to head to the hotel restaurant for a 6 course meal! My main course was prime rib. Awesome! Then there were presentations. I got 3 drivers, a pepsi/nike golf bag, a pepsi golf umbrella, Okanogan Merlot, a pepsi blanket, a co-op gift basket and a pepsi gift bag. Joya got a pepsi gift bag, Okanogan Merlot, a pepsi blanket and a game set. Then we went to the El Dorado lounge that was on the Okanogan. Because Joya and myself were so tired, we were the first to leave. End of day. Sunday we woke up and had our breakfast, then we had to shower and pack and be out of our room by 12. Andrew the shuttle guy drove us to the mall where we shopped and got bored. We then walked to an outlet mall where we shopped and got bored. Andrew the shuttle guy picked us up at the outlet mall and took us to the McDonald's drivethru. We fell asleep in the hotel lobby, and then we went to the airport. I couldn't find my golf stuff (neither could James, one of the other winners) so we trekked around Calgary airport to find it, and find it we did, in the oversize luggage thingie. And I went home.

So all in all, a non-stop weekend with all expenses paid. SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Back in the High Life Again

I'm back from Kelowna, and probably the best weekend I've had since who know's when. But because I'm tired, I will tell all later!

I Am The Iron Man

My arm is still hurt, and my bruise gets bigger by the hour. So, it's the
doctor for me tomorrow. Joya and I are going to Kelowna in 4 more sleeps! Speaking of Joya - she was in an accident last night. Oddly
enough, when I went to bed a while after the accident occured, I was feeling like I really needed to pray for her that something wasn't right. Wierd. Well, this is ever so short, but nothing of note has really happened to me. I'm expecting to be more than a little sore tomorrow - we started jazz today, and I haven't done that in a year. Oy! Thus begins the semester of no life.

Oh, and this is the creepiest picture ever. (In the Glass Menagerie, this two people play brother and sister)

Party Time, Excellent

Yesterday I gave blood. Or should I say, tried to give blood. I have problem veins. They are very thin and very deep. My left arm was a no-go. They missed. They then tried my right arm. I don't know all they did, but they were fooling around with my veins and had to prop up the needle with gauze and the like. Pretty soon I wasn't feeling myself. I was very lethargic and weak and tired beyond belief. Plus I had to pee like a banshee. A nurse finally came by and asked how I was feeling and when I told her, she got very concerned, took out my needle put cool cloths all over my face and put the ac unit right on me. After awhile, I was shaking - not from anything else but the extreme cold I was feeling mind you - and still having to go to the bathroom. I finally was able to go, but I had to be escorted. I was so tired yesterday, but this morning I thought I was good to go. But when I had breakfast my headache came back in full force, my arm is swollen and I was so tired, I really couldn't think. So I took a sick day. I rarely do that, and boy did I need it. I talked to my mom, and we decided that while I can't cut work altogether, I should at least work 2-3 shifts a week just to at least pay for my groceries. Alright, I really need to sleep.

Tell Me, I'm Not Scared Anymore

I'm dying. Literally. I'm being bashed in the head. The weapon of choice? Psalms and Wisdom Literature. It's a lot of work, and I really don't know if I have it in me. With that class, and work and the drama classes and the play - not to mention New Testament Backgrounds. So, if you don't see me anymore I am buried with severe head trauma.

The Resolution of all the Fruitless Searches

I'm going to the driving range soon. I'm kind of excited. But also kind of scared that I'll whack someone with my club. Maybe I should bring a helmet for people or something. Joya and I drove up to Banff yesterday (in her new car) to pick up some of her friends, but because we knew the major highway would be crazy we took 1A, and by golly that is a grand way to go. Mom and Dad and I went that way for Christmas last year (we didn't make it to Banff because of the weather) but it was an interesting route. When they come up in the summer time (!) we're going to go up that way. The scenery is just incroyable! And the lakes are either beautiful blue or green. I've never seen a green water mass before without it being full of grossness. I am from Ontario after all. Tomorrow is my last day before school starts. I still don't know how I feel about all that. Perhaps it's best not to think about it. Well have a grand day everyone, and if I hit you at a driving range, it's really not my fault!

Take My Hand Off To Never Neverland

Oh, good ol' Metallica. So wholesome.

I'm injured. It hurts. Yesterday I did some lifting of boxes and as a result my shoulder started hurting. When coming home on the bus, the driver thought it would be especially fun to -while stopping nicely - slam on the brakes for no reason. I was holding onto the bars with both my hands, and was able to stop myself from a fall, but not from an owie. While my arms stayed put, the rest of my body surged forward and stretched those muscles/tendons/whatevers that connect my torso to my arms. Very painful. I'm very lucky my arms did not get ripped off. Seriously. So I have to be very careful about what I do, and how I do it. So Deanna's back. It's a different experience to come home and have the lights on. Me likee.

On a funnier note. I was watching So You Think You Can Dance, and one of the male dancers was describing his dance with a partner and the lifts they had to do. One sentence was, "and her arm came around and hit me in my manspot". I laughed as I laugh when I watch America's Funniest Home Videos. It's almost funnier than a guy doubling over and screaming, "my area!" Oh good times. Well I should be off; time to rest for tomorrow. Oy, I'm so ready for a day off. One more shift, one more shift, one more shift. Ha! Try saying that 5 times fast. I dare ya! In front of your parents.
