But I've Been to Oklahoma
So. Our first snow. I really should have better prepared, seeing as how we were due, but no, I played the fool, rejecting the thought that I'd need a hat and mitts.
On another note, I worked an 8-hour shift yesterday. It'd been a long time since I worked one of those. When I started getting problems with my feet, I asked (At CG) to only work a max of 6 hours. My feet couldn't take anymore. I managed those 8 hours, but I was in absolute agony at times. Oy.
So, on to my book list. I finished
The Devil's Teardrop. What a twist. I always recommend Jeffrey Deaver, but he does swear sometimes - his earlier work seems to have more swears than his later ones. I also finished
The Penelopiad. I finished it in a day. It's so short. It was alright though. Not what I was expecting, but still pretty good. Next on the checked-off list is
Children of the Day. Now that was a wierd book. No quotation marks when people were talking, so it was hard to follow at times. There was also some parts were I felt awkward reading, but they were basically few and far between. It was a good drama, however, and it even mentions Steinbach - I've been there! Now I'm on
Deception Point and it's absolutely amazing. He's better at the twists than Jeffrey Deaver I think. (But don't tell Deanna I said so). Last night I bought
Memoirs of a Geisha for $10.99, so I'll be reading that after
Wicked and before
Memoirs of Cleopatra.

No Promises, No Demands
I have 4 and a half books to read. Fun books, nevermind those silly textbooks.
1. I have to finish
The Devil's Teardrop, by
Jeffrey Deaver. For those of you unfamiliar with the name, his book The Bone Collector was made into a movie not too long ago with Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington.
2. The
Penelopiad, by
Margaret Atwood. It tells the tale of Penelope while she's waiting for Odysseus to come back from his journeys.
3.
Children of the Day, by
Sandra Birdsell. Canadian Drama. It's on Chapters hot new fiction table.
4.
Deception Point, by
Dan Brown. Hey, it's Dan Brown; Mr. Da Vinci Code himself. (By the way, in the 5 1/2 hours I was working at Chapters yesterday I must have sold at least 6 copies of The Da Vinci Code, or Angels and Demons, not counting the Angels and Demons on tape).
5.
Wicked, by
Gregory Maguire. This is the book that inspired the Broadway musical. It's about the Wicked Witch of the West, and how she became bad. Other books by Maquire are Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and Lost (to name a few).
4, and 5 are my own books, while the other ones are from the library, and that's why they are in the order they are. I plan on buying a book called
Memoirs of Cleopatra shortly. It looks so interesting, and for 24 dollars, it's a really thick book!

Come and Knock on my Door
Oy. I slept 11 hours straight today. But it's ok. I was awake 40 hours straight before. Why? This week is the week of the play. I had a 10 page paper due and a journal due on Thursday. Where was I? At the playhouse every single hour of the day of the week which only meant night to do things. I started the paper at 11:00 Wednesday night and switched between that and the journal and the journal was done around 6 or so and the paper was done at 8:00. I had a shower, read a little and handed it in around 9:30 or so, I talked to some people, then I was off to the Epcor centre for another day of theatre. It was one of the hardest days ever. I'm still recovering today. I'm absolutely exhausted and I have a pounding headache that was introduced yesterday. I thought it was there because I haven't eaten or slept, but that can't be the case because I still had it after I had supper, and I still have it today. Oy.

Worries for Another Day
So I forgot to mention the most exciting news ever!
I only have 8 credits left until I graduate! 8 credits and one field lab, assuming my other four will just transfer over. 8 credits over a 3 semester time frame. It's going to be sweet. I'll no longer be a full time student; which will suck, because I won't get a bus pass, and I'll have to pay to get into banquets, but hey, I can see the light. I'm thinking of getting an Alberta Student Loan and use that to start paying off my OSAP loan. A lot of people use their loans to buy a pretty sweet camera (Buck), but I don't think that's necessarily a wise-investment, particularly if you only do it for posterity's sake. I'd rather be in debt to Alberta than to Ontario anyway. Well, we're off; going to pick up some stuff and get rid of our garbage before we take back the rental vehicle. Hope your reading break was more productive than mine!

Dance Your Cares Away
I gave blood today. And this was the first time in all the times I've gone that it went well. Well except for the pulse part; but after that was over, they got the needle in the first time, and it only took 5 and a half minutes for the blood to pump out. I even beat the boys. Great stuff.
We watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. I really liked it. I think I liked it better even than the original; much of a fan of originals that I am. It was so funny! Deanna and I also rented Two Brothers, but we haven't watched that yet; I'm excited to see it though. Tomorrow, Brad, his friend Candice, maybe Julianna and Trevor are coming over to my house for a movie night. I'm getting Batman Begins, seeing as how I get it for free; and Brad's getting Unfaithful, and we'll see about anything else.
For my birthday I got 60 dollars, and I spent it all at HMV. I was hoping to get Into the West, but they didn't have it, so I'll just have to wait for Christmas; no biggie. I bought a KISS poster, Michael Jackson: The Essential Hits, The Three Amigos, Edward Scissorhands, and Pretty in Pink. I'm excited.
I start Chapters on Sunday, and I'm supposed to get an 'in' for Jon with some chick. It's a sting operation. Good times.

Feel the Heat
Good news: I got the job at Chapters! Thanks for all those who prayed for me. I'm so excited!!!!!
AND, Deanna dyed my hair on Saturday - a dark brown - and it looks awesome! I've gotten so many compliments. It makes me look more mature and my hair look fuller. It's grand. Well, I'm off; I'm too excited to write anything else even remotely coherent!

And Time Will Tell Us All
So, the time is going by ever so quickly. I hardly know what to do with it. I'm working on one paper and will hopefully be done very soon. (Now that I know exactly what sort of things I want to research!) The Glass Menagerie is coming up soon; and then it'll be the Christmas Play at Foothills.
Update: I'm no longer SM, but I'm very ok with that; it was a lot of work for someone who had prior committments. I am, however, a stage hand, which I don't think I've done in quite a long time, so I'm looking forward to it. To all you criminals who read my blog. If you ever say, "I need to talk to my lawyer", it
always means you're guilty of something. If you want to get off, lie! Not that I'm supporting crime or lying, but honestly people. It's like one of the stupidest things to do. It's only a matter of time then.
I've been watching Law and Order, Close to Home, CSI's, and Criminal Minds too much. Alright, I'm going to do....something!
CiaoOh, yes...and the lyrics were from the song, The Battle of Evermore by Led Zeppelin. Check it out, it's full of beautiful imagery!
